Photography Evaluation.

Introduction to my assignment:

The beginning of this course I knew nothing about how to use a camera correctly to get a well-balanced good looking image, I never took a professional type picture before any of these lessons. The only photos I could take was simple pictures that are not composed properly and I do not think about the lighting or most of the things I have learned, I just aimed the camera and took the picture simple. The first couple of lessons have helped me develop my understanding on how to use the cameras and most of the features the camera holds, for example the mode button has 4 different modes, S stands for Shutter speed, P stands for Program, A stands for Aperture and M stands for manual. In this assignment we basically have to create a freaky/unique type advert. I have developed images for this advert with freaky and unique little aspects to them that make them stand out from other images.

My research:

I have done research on many freaky and unique images to help my understanding of what I have to produce and how it possibly could be created to add the freaky or unique effect. I have posted 10 different images that inspired me on to blogger and explained why they inspired me. These images all have something special to them that is why I chose what I did, these images stand out by far when looking at them with other freaky and unique type images.

Characteristics of freaky/unusual photography:

The main characteristics that I think need to be added to freaky / unique / unusual images is basically something that you don’t see much on a day to day basis for example on one of my images I spun the eyes upside down and it makes the image look very disturbing and unusual therefore making a successful image. You can use multiple different characteristics while making these images you can make: ghostly images, distorted images, impossible images and more to add quite amazing effects to all of your projects and pictures.

What were your ideas?

I am not a very imaginative thinker so I am not very good at ideas to create these type of images, I managed to think of adding a mini person’s head actually looking like it was inside of the drink bottle staring out towards you. I have also thought of making an image where all of my facial features where just suddenly gone, just completely disappeared making you think about could it be real or is it fake if you saw it anywhere else other than on my project.

Things I took into account:

I took into account many things such as the theme of the project, the lighting of the image I was about to take, the location of the image I was about to take, the shutter speed of the camera when taking the image (this is how I got a ghostly effect in one of my images) and tons more.

I think that these images was successful because I stuck to the theme of the images and I tried to make my images look as good and sharp as possible for example in one of my images my friend took a picture of me but I told him to take the image from a different place to basically add extra natural light into the image.

What would have I done differently:

I would have done a thing or two differently if I didn’t this again, one of these things are: I think I should try to add a darker/freakier image because my images wasn’t really dark, I would like to add a ghostly type image in one of them but firstly I’d like the image to be under exposed so we can create a nice faded person in the background making the effect of the image a lot more interesting and a lot more freaky / unusual / unique.

My opinion:

In my opinion I have done some fairly good images and edited them fairly well, these images match the theme of 'Freak or Unique' because they all have some weird/unique type of aspect to them which adds to the effect.
